Regulation on requirements for measurement, registration and method of calculating the amount of biogas, agricultural biogas and biomethane produced in renewable energy source installations from renewable energy sources and transported by means of transport other than gas networks.

This Regulation of the Minister of Climate and Environment of Poland lays down the requirements for measuring, registering, and calculating the quantities of biogas, agricultural biogas, and biomethane produced in renewable energy installations and transported by means other than gas networks. It aims to enhance the accuracy and reliability of energy calculations from biogas sources, contributing to better management of renewable energy resources. Key points include: (1) Measurement Standards: the regulation specifies how to convert the daily volume of biogas into energy quantities expressed in MWh, using formulas that take into account the heating value of the gases under specific reference conditions; (2) Data Registration: it mandates the use of an electronic data processing system for daily registration of measurements, ensuring chronological order and protection against data loss or distortion; (3) Emergency Procedures: In case of failure of measurement devices, a weighted average of the heating values from the previous 30 days can be used for calculations but this is only applicable for a maximum of 30 days following the failure.
