Decree-Law No. 162/96 establishing a legal regime for the inter-municipal exploitation and management of effluents.

This Decree-Law, in compliance with Decree-Law No. 379/93 of 5 November, establishes the legal regime for inter-municipal collection, exploitation and management of effluents. Duties include: purchasing equipment, waterworks improvement and maintenance. Inter-municipal effluent exploitation shall be regulate by an administrative contract between the Government (Ministry of Environment) and a public corporation (or a society with public capital). A model exploitation contract (dealing with purposes conditions, effluent characteristics, financial measures and all requirements to be satisfied by the public entity) is attached to the annex.
