Decree-Law No. 54/2014 establishing the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy (MAOTE).

This Decree-Law, consisting of 11 articles and one Annex, establishes the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy (MAOTE). It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Secretariat which objectives are: to support the formulation of policies, strategic and operational planning, performance of MAOTE in managing international programs and funding European in charge of MAOTE and ensure support on technical and administrative issues to the offices of MAOTE members and other bodies and its integrated services in areas of resource management internal, technical, legal support, documentation, information, communication and public relationship. MAOTE's main duties are: to promote the research and monitoring of political, economic, social, demographic and technological areas; to develop, disseminate and support the creation of planning instruments, programming and evaluation of policies; to ensure the preparation of contributions from MAOTE for Major Planning Options, in conjunction with other departments and agencies of the Ministry; to ensure the production of adequate information, particularly statistics, under the national statistics system, in the areas of intervention MAOTE; to ensure access and availability of information, through the coordination with information systems services and bodies MAOTE, to support the political and strategic decision; etc.
