Abstract
The specific objectives of the National Strategy on Forestry lay on three thematic areas: defense against fires, protection against biotic agents and rehabilitation of affected ecosystems. Rural development Community policy assumes that the support for use of forests in a sustainable and climate friendly way include the development of forest areas and the sustainable forest management (including related sport fisheries and hunting activities). On the other hand, forestry measures to be implemented through the Rural Development European Agricultural Fund (EAFRD) should contribute to the implementation of the forestry strategy for the EU. The implementation of the forestry measures designed under the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 (PDR 2020) should contribute to achieving the priorities set at community level, including: fostering knowledge transfer and innovation in agriculture, forestry and rural areas; enhancing the viability of agricultural exploitation and the competitiveness of all types of agriculture in all regions. The Strategy also provides for encouraging innovative agricultural technologies and sustainable management of forests; restoring, preserving and enhancing ecosystems linked to agriculture and forestry; promoting the efficient use of natural resources and supporting the transition towards a low-carbon and climate change resistant in the agricultural, food and forestry sectors; promoting social inclusion, poverty reduction and economic development of rural areas.
