Abstract
The present Law has been enacted with a view to ensuring a high level of protection of human health and consumers’ interest in relation to food. To this end, it establishes principles and rules applicable to food and feed in general, and to food and feed safety in particular. The provisions hereby laid down shall apply to all stages of production, processing and distribution of food and feed, with the exception of primary production for private domestic use or the domestic preparation, handling and storage of food for private domestic consumption.
The Law is composed of two Chapters. Chapter I lays down general provisions and gives specific definitions. Chapter II, “Food law”, is composed of the following Parts: (I) Scope; (II) General principles; (III) Principles of transparency; (IV) General obligations of food trade; (V) General requirements.
