Law on Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment.

This Law prescribes all necessary conditions, standards and related manner and procedure for assessing the environmental impact, on the territory of the Serbian Republic, of certain plans and programs on the environment, in order to ensure the protection of the environment and promotion of sustainable development by integrating the basic principles of environmental protection in the process of preparing and adoption of future plans and programs.
The provisions and policies of this Law shall not apply to plans and programs aimed to defend the country, plans to mitigate or eliminate the consequences of natural disasters and financial and budget plans.
The following elements shall be included in the national impact assessment activities: (a) air; (b) water; (c) land; (d) climate; (e) flora and fauna; (f) habitat; (g) biodiversity; (h) landscape (natural amenities); (i) Natural resources; (j) population and health; (k) cities and other settlements; (l) cultural-historic heritage; (m) infrastructure, industrial and other structures; (n) other man-made values. This Law is divided into 4 Chapters and 27 articles The Chapters are: Basic provisions (1); The process of strategic assessment (2); Penalties (3); and Transitional and final provisions.
