Regulation on the categorization and procedure for the improvement of establishments in which food of animal origin is processed.

This Regulation sets out the procedure for the categorization (4 different categories, see article 3 for details) and improvement of all Serbian based establishments in which food of animal origin is processed or handled.
The main purpose of these measures is to improve the effective food hygiene conditions in such facilities.
This Regulation does not apply to facilities approved for export of food of animal origin into the European Union; to premises where small quantities of primary products/food of animal origin are produced; as well as to facilities located on areas with special or particular geographical limitations (principle of flexibility applies). Categorization and process of improvement of facilities engaged in food of animal processing shall be conducted in accordance with the National programme for the improvement of animal feed businesses, approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and by the Veterinary Directorate.
