This Regulation sets the conditions regarding the breeding and trade of autochthonous breeds of domestic animals, as well as the content and manner for keeping the national Register of breeders of autochthonous breeds of domestic animals.
Breeding of domestic animals is a set of genetic and zootechnical procedures in order to manifest the production potential of animals. Autochthonous breeds of domestic animals are bred in pure breed. Autochthonous breeds of domestic animals can be bred on extensive manner; semi-intensive mode; and intensive manner. In order to preserve the habitat in which autochthonous breeds of domestic animals are located, these shall be grown in the traditional way in production systems with low investments (extensive way). In order to better implement breeding goals, increase the efficiency of selection and conservation of a certain breed, autochthonous breeds of domestic animals are bred in a semi-intensive and intensive way. Trade in autochthonous breeds of domestic animals includes import, export, transit, sale, purchase or any transfer, in accordance with the Serbian Law on livestock.
