Governmental Decree No. 558 validating the Regulation on distribution of quotas for the extraction (catch) of aquatic biological resources by the executive authorities of the subjects of the Russian Federation to support the traditional way of life and traditional economic activities of small indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation and on amendments to the Rules for preparing and making decisions on the provision of aquatic biological resources for use.

This Regulation establishes the procedure for the distribution of quotas for the extraction (catch) of aquatic biological resources by the executive authorities of the subjects of the Russian Federation to support the traditional way of life and traditional economic activities of small indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation. Distribution of quotas for traditional (artisanal) fishing shall be performed among persons belonging to small indigenous peoples and communities of small indigenous peoples. Regional executive bodies, after the approval by the Federal Agency for Fishery of the order on the distribution of total allowable catches of aquatic bioresources with regard to types of quotas for their extraction (catch) before December 31 of the year preceding the year of extraction (catch) of aquatic biological resources for ensuring the traditional way of life and traditional economic activities of small indigenous peoples, allocate quotas by issuing an appropriate legal act.
