Abstract
The Federal Supervision Agency in the sphere of ecology and nature management is a federal executive body authorized to carry out control and supervision in the sphere of ecology and nature management. The main functions of the Federal Supervision Agency in the sphere of ecology and nature management are: 1) state control over geological study, rational use and protection of subsoil; 2) control over use, conservation, protection and reproduction of forest; 3) control over use and protection of water basins; 4) state control over protection, use and stock enhancement of wildlife species subject to hunting and protection of habitats within its sphere of competence; 5) supervision over the observance of the Russian legislation regarding hunting, aquatic biodiversity and protected areas within its sphere of competence; 6) state control within its sphere of competence of the organization and functioning of protected area of federal importance; 7) federal ecological control; 8) control over waste management of domestic and non-domestic sources and transboundary movement of waste; 9) control over production and consumption of substances causing greenhouse effect; 10) state control over protection of atmospheric air within its sphere of competence; 11) licensing in the field of management of hazardous waste; 12) organization and carrying out state environmental audit; 13) issuing and cancellation of permits and licenses within its sphere of competence as regards emissions, discharge of pollutants into environment, as well as hazardous impact on it; management disposal, transport, storage, re-use of hazardous waste; transboundary movement of waste; turnover of protected wildlife species and import and export of trophies.
