Regional state program “Environmental protection” for the period 2019-2024.

Regional state program “Environmental protection” for the period 2019-2024 is a regional state multi-sectoral policy document aimed at environmental protection. Its objectives shall be as follows: (a) increasing the level of environmental security and conservation of natural ecosystems; (b) preventing harmful effects of waste on human health and the environment; (c) protecting the local population and the objects of the economy from floods, environmental disasters, and other adverse effects of water and rehabilitation of waterbodies to the condition favorable for living conditions of the population;(d) ensuring the conservation and use of wild fauna species, including hunting, conservation of game and protection of habitats; and (e) improving the efficiency of state management in the sphere of environmental protection.
Expected results: (a) increase the share of used, recycled, neutralized waste in the total volume of generated waste during production and consumption up to 90%; (b) increase the share of the area of protected areas of regional significance of the total area of the Irkutsk region to 1,04%; (c) increase the length of new and reconstructed engineering protection and bank protection structures by 28,796.1 m; (d) ensuring an annual increase in the number of the limited hunting resources on the regional territory, except for protected areas, by 5% and identification of offences related to protection and management of wild fauna species; (e) ecological education of the population; (f) conservation of Baikal lake area; and (g) increase the share of accounted sources of atmospheric air pollution in cities with high and very high level of atmospheric pollution up to 17%.
