Abstract
This Law consisting of 27 articles aims at protecting public health by providing for public health protection measures at ports of entry into the Kingdom. The Ministry of Health (National Contact Center) is the responsible authority for the coordination of matters relating to this Law with the WHO.
The measures provided by this Law regard the arrival of any conveyance to the Kingdom, both by ship and aircraft.
The competent authority shall take necessary precautions, included quarantine measures, with any conveyance arriving if there is any potential public health risk. Measures to prevent water contamination are provided in art.4; procedures to combat vectors and reservoirs shall be implemented at the port of entry; art.6 deals with periodic deratting and disinsection and related certificates; art.8 provides for health information required at port entry, according to International Health Regulation (IHR); art.9 regards inspections and eventual medical examinations; art.11 deals with vessels used for private leisure or local rent; arts.12 and 17 provide for measures in case of public health emergency of international concern; art.14 provides for an aircraft coming from an affected area; art.15 concerns the cases of ill people on board; art.16 deals with measures implemented by the competent authority with people suspected of being sick; art.18 concerns international transit of aircraft; art.20 deals with objects and material coming from an affected area or a potentially contaminated area; art.23 lists the public health protection measures on which the competent authority cannot impose charges.
