Organic Food Products Clearance Conditions and requirements.

These Regulations, applying to all food consignments with descriptive information on the label indicating organic production methods, aim to (i) ensure that all stages of production, processing, storage, transport, and marketing are subject to control and comply with these conditions; (ii) protect consumers from fraud and deception against all claims of unsubstantiated organic products; (iii) maintain and promote Organic Agricultural Systems; (iv) contribute to the provision of healthy, high quality food free from any chemical residues; (v) promote the preservation of the environment and natural resources. The conditions for Organic Food Products clearance dealt with in the Regulations concern (i) documents and certificates, in particular Organic Certificate and Transaction Certificate; (ii) product requirements, such as not be prohibited for import, be registered with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority for food imports, comply with approved technical regulations, the ingredients must not contain prohibited mixtures of organic and inorganic substances, not be exposed to ionizing rays or unauthorized substances during processing; (iii) labeling information; (iv) storage and transportation, in particular the procedures for separating organic and inorganic products; (v) sampling.
