Abstract
The Safety Regulations for Non-Convention Vessels in Solomon Islands take into account the provisions of the following International Conventions: (i) the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) 1974 as amended; (ii) the International Convention on Load Lines (LL), 1996, as amended, (iii) the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREG), 1972, as amended. These Regulations shall apply to all vessels and barges described in Regulation 2, including but not limited to: new fishing vessels.
These Regulations lay down rules as regards survey and certification; construction and equipment; stability requirements and bilge pumping arrangements; machinery allation; electrical installations; protection, detection and extinction of fire; fire safety measures; precautionary measures; life saving appliance; radio communications; safety of navigation; assignment of loading; and accomodation and general protection measures against accidents.
