Abstract
This Act provides for the control of animal disease and the import of animals into the Seychelles. The Act is divided into 9 Parts: Preliminary (I); Notifiable diseases (II); Inspectors, etc. (III); Import and quarantine (IV); Vaccines and drugs (V); Compulsory slaughter (VI); Regulations (VII); Penalties, etc. (VIII); Repeal (IX).
The Act is completed by two Schedules: Notifiable diseases (1); Valuation of slaughtered stock (2). Diseases specified in Schedule 1 shall be notified immediately to an Inspector appointed pursuant to section 6 of the Act. The Minister may, by notice in the Gazette, declare an area to be an infected area (sect. 5). Section 17 deals with the control and of import and movement of fodder, kennels and other infected materials.
