Abstract
These Regulations lay down standards and rules for the supply of animals and poultry to slaughterhouses and the slaughtering of such animals and poultry. In particular, the Regulations specify standards for hygienic conditions in slaughterhouses and poultry processing plants. The Minister may grant exemptions from these Regulations where it is not practical or efficient to build a slaughterhouse or poultry processing plants in accordance with these Regulations. The Regulations prohibit supply to slaughterhouses of animals that are not fit for human consumption. They also specify rules regarding the hygienic transportation of animals and veterinary controls, including control of toxic residues in animals.
