Abstract
The Act is composed of 25 sections and is divided into five parts: Preliminary (I); General Provisions (II); Importation (III); Administration and Enforcement (IV); Legal Proceedings (V).
Part II provides general rules relative to the preparation and sale of food. The Minister may, by Notice in the Gazette, designate any premises as a slaughterhouse for the slaughter of animals. Slaughter of animals in non-designated slaughterhouses is prohibited (sect. 9). Importation of food requires relabelling or reconditioning of food (sect. 11). Section 12 provides for the establishment of the Food Control Board.
