Food (Contaminant and toxins in food or feed) Regulations, 2019 (S.I. 16 of 2019).

These Regulations are made in exercise of the powers conferred by section 38 of the Food Act, 2014. They contain the Maximum Residue limits for pesticides in food items. They also lay down the maximum level of metal contaminants, mycotoxins, and other contaminants in food items. Any food which contains a pesticide residue or contaminant in excess of the maximum level specified by these regulations shall, for the purpose of section 9 of the Act, be treated as food which is unfit for human consumption.
