Abstract
This Act amends the Maritime Zones Act of 1999 so as to insert in section 2 the definition of “archipelagic State” and to modify the definition of “low water line”. The Act declares Seychelles to be an archipelagic State and defines its baselines. “Archipelagic State” means a State constituted wholly by one or more archipelagos and may include other islands.
Section 3 defines baselines, which shall be the low-water line or straight archipelagic baselines prescribed by the President. The limit of the Territorial Sea shall be 12 nautical miles from the nearest point on the baselines (sect. 4). Section 5 defines “Internal Waters”. The EEZ shall measure 200 nautical miles from the baselines.
