Abstract
The Act consists of 34 sections divided into 6 Parts: Preliminary (I); Territorial Sea, Internal waters, Archipelagic waters and Contiguous zone (II); Exclusive Economic Zone and Continental Shelf (III); Rights of passage (IV); Jurisdiction, enforcement and offences (V); General (VI).
Section 3 defines baselines, which shall be the low-water line or straight archipelagic baselines prescribed by the President. The limit of the Territorial Sea shall be 12 nautical miles from the nearest point on the baselines (sect. 4). Section 5 defines “Internal Waters”. The EEZ shall measure 200 nautical miles from the baselines.
