Abstract
This Act, which is organized in 5 Parts, establishes the Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority to manage and administer parks and gardens and other areas designated as such. Part 1 is dedicated to matters of interpretation of the text.
Part 2 is dedicated to the establishment of the Authority and its functions, among which there is the promotion of the participation in the conservation work, the protection and management of the ecosystems and biodiversity in the Protected Areas that fall under its jurisdiction, the implementation of national conservation policies and obligations under multilateral agreements and the implementation of forestry practices, the protection of habitats and ecosystems from anthropogenic threats, the facilitation and conduction of researches related to biodiversity, the promotion of education and awareness activities.
Part 3 regulates the Board of the Authority, its composition, its functioning and powers, its management.
Part 4 is dedicated to the financial provisions: the funds of the Authority, the insurance the Authority may subscribe, the Directions the Minister may, in writing, give to the Authority regarding the performance of its functions, the operational plan, the accounts and audits, the annual reports.
Part 5 covers miscellaneous issues, like the application of certain Penal Code provisions and the protection of acts done in good faith. This Part also regulates the references to other written laws, the issuing of regulations by the Minister, repeals, savings and transitional.
