Tourism Development Act, no. 8 of 2019.

This Act provides for improving the planning and implementation of policies relating to the tourism industry and focuses on the following objectives: enabling the Ministry of Tourism to develop programmes and guidelines relating to the tourism sector, in order to meet the national objectives on tourism development; exercising general supervision over the tourism sector; promoting efficient and sustainable development in the tourism sector and enhancing the sector's contribution to the national economy; establishing a code of practice and standards for tourism enterprises; developing cultural and eco-tourism services; co-ordinating the activities of other statutory bodies associated with the development of the tourism sector. The Act covers the following matters: policies on tourism sector; development of a national classification system for accommodation establishments; appointment of inspectors; compliance measures; information on tourism enterprises.
