Abstract
Feeding stuffs includes water, which is used for the feeding of animals, and various substances added to feeding stuffs in order to raise its quality (sect. 1). Excluded are all products covered by the Medicines Act (1992:859). The Act applies to feeding stuffs for livestock and other animals held in captivity, but not to pet food. Section 3 outlines general requirements for the quality of feeding stuffs. Section 4 concerns the admission of antibiotics and chemoterapeutical substances in feed. Only additives approved in accordance with section 5 are allowed. Regulation making powers of the Government, in consultation with the State Agricultural Agency are outlined in section 6. Sale and use of feeding stuffs shall be in conformity with rules laid down in section 9. The State Agricultural Agency shall carry out supervision on the observation of rules laid down by the present Act (sect. 12). Remaining sections provide for powers of enforcement authorities and some other matters.
