Decree (2005:220) on a return system for plastic bottles and metal cans.

The present Decree of the Ministry of the Environment lays down rules for the returning of plastic bottles and metal cans. It contains 13 sections divided in the following headings: (i) Definitions; (ii) Obligations concerning an approved return system; (iii) Labelling; (iv) Information to the public; (v) Transfer prohibition; (vi) Information to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency; (vii) Provision of collection containers; (viii) Targets for reduced wasting and recycling of materials; (ix) Recycling; (x) Provisions concerning packaging in other statues; (xi) Supervision and responsibility; (xii) Authorization to issue enforcement regulations; (xiii) Appeals. Producers shall ensure that bottles and cans are part of a return system, otherwise and their sale and marketing shall be prohibited.
