Plant Protection Act (1972:318).

This Act, in addition to rules of the European Communities in this field, provides for the protection of plants and the prevention of pests and diseases affecting plants. Provisions of the European Communities that are completing partly or wholly the provisions of the Act, shall be notified by the Government. The Act defines a general duty of landowners to prevent the spreading of pests and diseases and grants detailed regulation-making powers to the Government. The State Agricultural Agency shall be the principal responsible authority for control and inspection of plants, especially in relation to the importation of plants.
