Abstract
This Act grants to the Minister the power of making orders so as to protect wild animals and wild birds.
Orders may include: declare the time of the year during which any wild animal or bird shall not be killed or taken; declare breeding seasons; prohibit within Singapore the killing, taking, netting, snaring of any wild animal or bird; and provide for the control, registration and licensing of any species of wild animal or bird. The Act further prohibits the importation of wild animals and birds into Singapore except under a written authorization of the Director-General. Penal provisions are also contained in the Act.
