Abstract
This Sale of Food (Amendment) Act 2017 is an Act to amend the Sale of Food Act (Chapter 283 of the 2002 Revised Edition). Section 10 is amended by adding the provisions on: persons to whom directions may be given, content and effect of directions; service of directions under this Part, general corrective action direction, direction to impose movement controls, direction to recall food or food contact article, direction to manage food or food contact article, direction to publish statement, compensation, appeal to Minister, non‑compliance with food safety measures, etc.
Section 21 of the Sale of Food Act is repealed and the following section substituted therefor: “Non‑retail food business must be licensed. A person must not carry on a non‑retail food business except in accordance with a licence issued to the person by the Director‑General under this Part.”.
It further makes amendments of the Sale of Food Act on: the long title, definitions and meaning of terms, offenses and penalties, etc. In addition, consequential and related amendments are also made to the Agri‑Food and Veterinary Authority Act, the Animals and Birds Act, the Environmental Public Health Act, the Wholesome Meat and Fish Act.
