Abstract
This Law defines infectious diseases that threaten the health of the inhabitants of the Republic of Slovenia and hospital or nosocomial infections, which arise in a causal connection with the performance of medical activities and prescribes measures for their prevention and control. Protection of the population against infectious diseases and hospital-acquired infections includes a system of social, group and individual activities and measures for their prevention, management, treatment and removal of their consequences. The protection of the population against the introduction of infectious diseases from abroad includes measures which are determined by this text among relevant international health and sanitary conventions and other international contracts concluded or ratified by the Republic of Slovenia.
Article 6 sets the following provisions: measures for the prevention and control of zoonoses are carried out by authorized health authorities institutes in cooperation with the competent authorities and organizations in the field of veterinary medicine, including the mandatory mutual information on the occurrence and movement of these diseases and coordinated organization and implementation of epidemiological, hygienic and other measures for their prevention or oppression; short-term and long-term preventive measures and programmes for the protection of the population against zoonoses is adopted by the minister responsible for health, in agreement with the minister responsible for veterinary medicine. These programmes specify measures, contractors, deadlines and manners for their implementation.
