Abstract
This Regulation sets out the official criteria for classification of work with genetically modified organisms in closed systems in related security classes, and provides for containment and other security measures for each security class.
The above mentioned classification principle and approach is based on the level of risk posed by GMOs to human health and the environment.
Annexes are also part of this publication. Annex 1: Laboratory containment measures for GMOs; Annex 2: Containment measures for working with GMOs in a growth chamber or greenhouse; Annex 3: Containment measures for handling GMOs in the animal handling unit; Annex 4: Containment measures for working with GMOs in a purpose-equipped space (bioreactor production plant).

Entry into force notes
This Regulation enters into force on the fifteenth day after its publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia.
Notes
Article 15 of this Regulation shall apply from 31 December 2005.
