Abstract
This Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food establishes provisions concerning identification of swine, monitoring of the movement of swine, register of breeders of swine and central register of swine. All pigs from the Republic of Slovenia must be marked in the way described in this Regulation. Any movement of pigs must be reported in the central register, so it is possible to track the origin of all the pigs. Department of Animal Identification and Registration, which is a department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, is responsible for the implementation of identification and registration of swine, keeps record of breeders and the central register of swine. All breeders and owners of pigs must be entered in the register of breeders of swine. The breeders are responsible for proper identification of pigs. Identification of animals must be permanent and visible through the whole life of animals. The animals must be marked as soon as possible after birth. This Regulation is composed of 23 articles divided into the following Sections: General provisions (Sec. 1); Central register of swine (Sec. 2); Control (Sec. 3); Transitional and final provisions (Sec. 4).
