Abstract
This Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food establishes minimum standards for the protection of pets. For the purposes of these provisions pets mean animals that are bred, raised or kept for the company, recreation, protection or support humans. Pet keeper should make every effort to ensure the welfare of animals and to prevent causing pain, injury, disease or disorder of animal behavior. Pet keeper must provide appropriate accommodation and care for animals with regard to ethological standards depending on the species and in particular must ensure qualitatively and quantitatively adequate food and water, proper movement of animals, measures to prevent the escape of animals and adequate living conditions. This Regulation is composed of the following Sections: General provisions (Sec. 1); General conditions (Sec. 2); Hotels for animals and pet shops (Sec. 3); Breeding conditions (Sec. 4); Dogs (Sec. 5); Domestic cats (Sec. 6); Other pets (Sec. 7); Final provisions (Sec. 8).
