Abstract
The Act provides for the establishment of the National Environment Board, the Department of the Environment and the Environment Fund and provides for environmental impact assessment and other matters relative to management and conservation of the environment.
The Board shall, among other things, coordinate national and local efforts to protect the environment, be instrumental in planning, advise the Minister and review environmental impact assessments drawn-up and submitted to it in accordance with this Act. The Act also defines duties of the Minister charged with the responsibility for the environment. Projects listed in the First Schedule shall not be undertaken without a valid licence and related environment impact assessment. Other Schedules specify criteria for the need of an environment impact assessment and its contents.
