Abstract
The Act defines the territorial sea of Suriname at 12 nautical miles from the nearest point on the line of low-water mark along the shore and establishes a zone, "The Economic Zone", of 200 nautical miles for which Suriname claims sovereign rights concerning the exploration, exploitation, conservation and management of living and non-living resources article 6 provides for the granting and revocation of licences for activities in the economic Zone. Articles 7 to 16 deal in detail with measures of enforcement and prescribe offences and penalties. This Law may be implemented by Government Decree (art. 17). (18 articles)
