Announcement of the Department of Fisheries fishing vessel monitoring system for vessels registered as a carrier for the transshipment of aquatic animals or as a vessel for the storage of aquatic animals (No. 1).

These Rules, issued by the Director-General of the Department of Fisheries under paragraph 1 of section 88 of the Fisheries Ordinance of 2015 implements a provision that requires any person wishing to use a fishing vessel registered as a carrier for the transshipment of aquatic animals or as a vessel for the storage of aquatic animals to transship aquatic animals of a size from thirty tons or more to have installed a fishing vessel monitoring system and maintain the functionality thereof at all times. Data on successful installation must be submitted to the Department of Fisheries. The Rules also concern system requirements and action in case of system failure and the obligations regarding use of the system and relative communications.
