Abstract
This Act makes provision for the establishment, registration, operation and management of cooperatives in Thailand.
The Act provides for the establishment of the Board of National Cooperative Development and defines its internal organization. The Board aims at promoting the viability and growth of cooperatives.
The Act further empowers the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to be the Registrar of Cooperatives, which shall have the following powers and duties: register, promote, assist, advise and supervise a cooperative in accordance with the provisions of this Act; prescribe the system of accounting, the standard of audit, books and forms which cooperatives have to submit to the Registrar; order a cooperative to be inspected or investigated; etc.
In addition, the Act provides for: the formation, registration, amalgamation, division, dissolution and liquidation of cooperatives; operations of cooperatives; the supervision of cooperatives; cooperative federations; establishment of a Cooperative Development Fund; the Cooperative League of Thailand; farmers group; penalties; etc.

This Act enters into force as form the day immediately following the date of its publication in the Government Gazette.

This Act repeals the Cooperatives Act, B.E. 2511 (1968); the 140th Decree of the Revolutionary Council of 1 May 1972 (B.E. 2515); the 247th Decree of the Revolutionary Council of 9 November 1972 (B.E. 2515); and the Cooperatives Act (No. 2), B.E. 2525 (1982).
