Abstract
The 43 sections of the Act are divided into a first Part without a title and five Chapters: Private Irrigation (I); People Irrigation (II); Contractual Irrigation (III); Penalties (IV); Execution of the Act (V).
Persons who wish to construct private irrigation systems must apply for a permit (sect. 7). The Provincial Commission can expropriate such private works after a period of at least then years. Excess of water of a private system can be distributed to the neighbouring areas. In the case of disagreement, compensation will be fixed by an arbitrator (sect. 9). The Provincial Commissioner may declare People Irrigation areas (sect. 11).

The Act repeals the Act for the construction of irrigation channels, weirs, flood embankments of 1934 and Amendments and all regulations and by-laws which deal with matters covered by this Act (sect. 3).
