Governmental Decree No. 189 validating the Regulation on the State Committee on Environmental Protection.

This Decree establishes that the State Committee on Environmental Protection shall be central executive body implementing common state policy in the sphere of environmental protection, hydrometeorology, rational management of natural resources and performing state control over environmental protection and management of natural resources. The Committee shall perform the following tasks: (a) implementation of common state ecological policy; (b) state control over protection and rational management of wild fauna and wild flora, game and fish stocks, forests and water resources, subsoil and compliance with ecological and biological security; (c) performance of environmental audit and environmental monitoring; (d) drafting of environmental legislative acts and requirements and validation thereof; (e) operation of early warning system in relation of the outbreak of natural and technological disasters; and (f) provision of state bodies with environmental information.
