Abstract
This Law establishes the legal, organizational, and economic foundations of the organic production system and is aimed at establishing and ensuring the sustainability of the agroecological system. The objectives of the organic production system are: (a) preservation of biological and agro-biological diversity; (b) increase the biological activity of the soil in order to maintain its fertility for a long period of time; (c) recycling of plant and animal waste to return nutrients to the soil and reduce the use of non-renewable resources; (d) use of renewable resources in local farming systems; (e) promote the protection of soil, water and atmospheric air, as well as the reduction of all types of pollution resulting from agricultural activities; (f) processing of agricultural products in order to preserve them at all stages with organic integrity and its vital characteristics; and (g) protecting public health. The principles of organic production include: (a) maintaining the ecological balance of nature and restoring its resources; (b) introducing effective methods for the use of non-renewable natural resources, preserving biological and agro-biological diversity; (c) voluntary nature of activities in the field of organic production; (d) maintaining soil fertility, protecting flora and fauna, and public health; and (e) increasing the efficiency and productivity of agricultural production without harming the environment and public health. The main areas of organic production include: (a) organic farming; (b) organic livestock farming; (c) organic beekeeping; (d) organic poultry farming; (e) organic aquaculture; (f) use of organic products made from raw materials from wild plants; and (g) organic processing of organic raw materials. The packaging label or documents certifying organic products must contain the following information: (a) name and address of the producer or processing plant of organic products; (b) name of the product with an indication of the organic production method used; (c) the name and trademark of the organic product; (d) storage conditions of organic products and their shelf life; and (e) indication of the procedure for storing organic products with other products. Business entities that produce organic products have the right to use the trademark of conformity of organic products. The use of all types of symbols, including those used in commercial trademarks, as well as styles of labelling and advertising of organic products or products made from them, which may mislead the consumer, is prohibited.
