Decree-Law No. 24/2014 creating the legal framework establishing the basis for a tourism policy in Timor-Leste.

This Decree-Law, consisting of IX Chapters, creates the legal framework establishing the basis for a tourism policy in Timor-Leste. It applies to tourist activities, to public sector activities aimed at promoting tourism, suppliers of tourism products and services to tourists and consumers of tourism products and services. It establishes the basis of public tourism policies, defines its objectives and principles and identifies the instruments for its implementation, as a strategic sector of the national economy. It establishes that the National Tourism Policy is pursued by a coherent set of principles and norms regulating tourism activities, organization, duties and powers of public authorities, as well as the practice of a profession that require specific legal protection.
