Ministerial Order No. 5/2020 establishing the Functional Structure of the Directorate-General for Livestock and Veterinary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAP).

This Ministerial Order, consisting of 24 articles divided into five Chapters, establishes the functional structure of the Directorate-General for Livestock and Veterinary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAP). This Directorate-General is a service that integrates the direct administration of the MAP, and is responsible for ensuring the general orientation and integrated coordination of all MAP services with attributions in the areas of livestock and veterinary. The Directorate-General has the following duties: a) Collaborate in the definition of policies, programmes and plans relevant to the livestock and veterinary area; b) Coordinate, guarantee and promote the execution, articulation and monitoring of the implementation of livestock and veterinary policies, plans, programmes and strategies at the Municipal level in coordination with the local authorities or the Municipal Agriculture services; c) Ensuring sustainable and quality animal production, in order to guarantee public health; d) Coordinate internally and grant licensing for the livestock and veterinary industry; e) Coordinate the enforcement of hygienic conditions for import, export and breeding of animals, preparation, transportation, storage and sale of meat and products of animal origin; etc.
