Ministerial Order No. 3/2024 on the Functional Structure of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Forestry.

This Ministerial Order establishes the Functional Structure of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Forestry. The Government, under article 38 of Decree-Law No. 77/2023 of 4 October integrates the following central services within the direct administration of the State: a) The General Directorate of Corporate Services; b) The General Directorate of Agriculture, Coffee and Industrial Plants; c) The General Directorate of Livestock and Veterinary Science; d) The General Directorate of Forests; e) The General Directorate of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management; f) The Quarantine and Biosafety Unit; g) The Agro-commerce, Food Security and Cooperation Unit; h) The Inspection, Supervision and Audit Office.
The specific establishment of each of the departments and sections sought to favour the specialization of the work carried out by human resources, in accordance with best international practices, aiming to promote good governance to respecting the maximum limit of three departments for each of national directorates. The Director-General is responsible for the direction, supervision and execution of the tasks of the General Directorate, or equivalent service, which depend on it and reports directly to the member of the Government responsible for the Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Forests.
