Abstract
The purpose of water legislation is regulation of water relations for the purpose of ensuring in the interest of the present and the future generations scientifically substantiated, rational use of water for the needs of the population and national economy, protection of water against pollution, choking up and exhaustion, prevention and liquidation of hazardous impact of water, improvement of the state of water objects, as well as protection of the rights of the enterprises, organizations, institutions and citizens, strengthening of legality in the field of water relations. The document consists of 6 Sections sub-divided into 30 Chapters that contain 135 articles. Section 1 (arts. 1-20) lays down general provisions. Section 2 (arts. 21-108) regards water management. Section 3 (arts. 109-124) regards protection of water and prevention of its hazardous impact. Section 4 (arts. 125-130) regards state registration and water use planning. Section 5 (arts. 131-134) establishes liability for the infringement of water legislation. Section 6 (art. 135) regards international agreements.
