Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of Tunisia in the field of forestry and water.

By the Decree No. 2018/11197 of the Council of Ministers of 8 January 2018, the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of Tunisia in the field of forestry and water has been approved. The Parties agree upon cooperation on (i) soil conservation, (ii) water harvesting on the upper catchment area of the dam, (iii) flood control, (iv) forest fire prevention, (v) combatting desertification and erosion control, (vi) watershed management, (vii) wastewater treatment, (viii) biodiversity conservation, (ix) land use planning, (x) wildlife management, (xi) marine protected areas, (xii) sustainable water resources management, (xiii) rehabilitation and modernization of irrigation and drainage systems, (xiv) climate change adaptation and mitigation, (xv) water savings and efficiency, (xvi) river basin management, (xvii) pollution control, and (xviii) development of water users’ association. The Parties shall develop cooperation by conducting hydraulic and hydrogeological studies and researches, exchange of information and experience, public awareness-raising and institutional capacity building. The Parties may organize staff training programs. This Agreement may be amended by mutual written consent. The dispute may be solved through negotiation. This Agreement shall be valid for five years and may be extended for successive periods of five years unless terminated by written notice requiring six months.
