Agreement on maritime transport between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the State of Qatar.

By the Presidential Decree No. 230 of 25th of October 2018, the Agreement on maritime transport between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the State of Qatar has been approved. The Parties agree upon strengthening cooperation on the basis of the principle of free navigation in the sphere of maritime transport, taking into account principles of equality, mutual cooperation and mutual benefit. To this end, a vessel of either Contracting Party shall have the right to carry out shipping between the international commercial ports of both Contracting Parties open to navigation, as well as to carry out international maritime carriage between the Contracting Parties and/or between both Contracting Parties and the third party to the extent that it is in conformity with the legislation practices and policies of the state of the party. The Parties mutually agreed on ensuring safety at the sea; protection of marine environment; equal treatment of vessels; development of maritime trade; exchange of information in the sphere of maritime transport; and exchange of views on the International Maritime Organization activities and other international maritime agreements. This Agreement may be amended by mutual written consent. The dispute between the Contracting Parties may be solved through negotiation and consultation. This Agreement shall be valid for three years and may be extended for successive period unless terminated by written notice requiring six months.
