Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of Turkmenistan in the fields of Forestry and Meteorology.

This Agreement sets out a framework for cooperation in the field of forestry and meteorology between Turkey and Turkmenistan. The parties agree to cooperate in issues such as: afforestation, combating desertification and erosion, prevention and rehabilitation of land degradation, wind erosion and dust transportation, combating drought, inventory of the natural forests, fighting the fire forests and pests, developing forest management plans, poplar cultivation and urban forests, using Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing Techniques in forestry, nature conservation, protected areas management, ecotourism planning for the protected areas, game management and wild animal breeding, instant, medium and long term weather forecast, regional climate models, usage of numerical models, satellite and meteorological radars for weather forecast, maintenance, installation and applications of electronic observation systems and dust and sand storm forecast. Furthermore, the parties agree to cooperate on implementation of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and preparation of an action plan on the fields of forestry and meteorology. It is also stated in the Agreement that, the contracting parties will agree to exchange scientific and technical information and documents, researchers, experts and consultants. The contracting parties will also agree to set up training programs, meetings and seminars. A Joint Committee shall be established by the contracting parties. This Agreement may be amended by mutual written consent. The disputes may be solved by conciliation. The agreement is valid for one year and is automatically renewable with termination rights requiring six months written notice.
