Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of Guinea in the field of forestry.

By the Presidential Decree No. 461 of 11th of December 2018, the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of Guinea in the field of forestry has been approved. For the protection of natural resources, combating desertification and drought, erosion control, conservation and rehabilitation of forests, the Parties agree upon cooperation on (I) effective forest management planning, (II) biodiversity conservation and ecosystem preservation, (III) rehabilitation of degraded forest ecosystems, (IV) integrated pest management, (V) forest fire management, (VI) sustainable harvesting and marketing of forest products, (VII) management of non-timber forest products and services, (VIII) development of forestry industry, (IX) rural development, (X) Geographic Information Systems and remote sensing in the forestry, (XI) monitoring the health and vitality of forest ecosystems, (XII) national forest inventory, (XIII) integrated watershed management, (XIV) soil conservation and improvement, (XV) seed and seedling cultivation, and (XVI) flood control. The Parties shall develop cooperation by exchange of scientific and technical information, and documents on research, development and implementation activities, as well as by exchange of experts, researchers, consultants and personnel. The Parties may organize training programs, meetings, joint workshops, seminars, and study tours. A Joint Committee shall be established to ensure the efficient implementation of cooperation activities under this Agreement. This Agreement may be amended by mutual written consent. The dispute may be solved through negotiation. This Agreement shall be valid for one year and may be extended for successive period of one year unless terminated by written notice requiring six months.
