Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of Niger in the field of forestry.

By the Decree No. 2018/11256 of the Council of Ministers of 17 January 2018, the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of Niger in the field of forestry has been approved. The Parties agree upon cooperation on (i) combating desertification, drought and soil degradation, and afforestation and erosion control, (ii) forest conservation, rehabilitation of degraded forests and ecosystems, development of amelioration and soil conservation services of forests, (iii) rural development, (iv) inventory, management and marketing of non-timber products, (v) sustainable management and planning of forest, (vi) inventory of national forestry, establishment of information systems including GIS and Remote Sensing, (vii) urban and recreational forests, (viii) biodiversity conservation, (ix) management of national parks and protected areas, ecotourism activities in protected areas, (x) implementation of international conventions in the fields of combating desertification and climate change, and (xi) institutional capacity building. The Parties shall develop cooperation by exchange of scientific and technical information, researchers, consultants and experts, and by conducting joint projects. The Parties may organize training programs, meetings, seminars and study tours. A Joint Committee shall be established to ensure efficient implementation of cooperation under this Agreement. This Agreement may be amended by mutual written consent. The dispute may be solved through negotiation. This Agreement shall be valid for five years and may be extended for successive periods of five years unless terminated by written notice requiring six months.
