Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of Republic of Sudan in the field of forestry.

By the Decree No. 2018/11458 of the Council of Ministers of 19 February 2018, the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of Republic of Sudan in the field of forestry has been approved. The Parties agree upon cooperation on (i) afforestation, reforestation and seedling production, (ii) forest fire management, erosion control and combating desertification, (iii) biodiversity conservation and ecosystem preservation, (iv) integrated watershed management, (v) public awareness raising and institutional capacity building, (vi) forest inventory and forest management, (vii) application of GIS and Remote Sensing, (viii) strengthening the role of forest communities in sustainable forest management and development of alternative income generating opportunities, (ix) management of forest goods and services, particularly non-timber products, and (x) encouragement of small-scale timber industry in forest villages. The Parties shall develop cooperation by exchange of scientific and technical information, researchers, consultants and experts, and by conducting joint projects. The Parties may organize workshops, meetings, seminars, training programs and study visits. A Joint Committee shall be established to ensure efficient implementation of cooperation under this Agreement. This Agreement may be amended by mutual written consent. The dispute may be solved through negotiation. This Agreement shall be valid for one year and may be extended for successive period of one year unless terminated by written notice requiring six months.
