Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Turkey and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in the field of forestry.

By the Decree No. 2016/9316 of the Council of Ministers of 3 October 2016, the Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Turkey and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in the field of forestry has been approved. The Parties agree upon cooperation on (i) planning and sustainable management of forests, (ii) afforestation and rehabilitation works in arid and semi-arid areas, (iii) study and research in the fight against erosion by water, wind and sand, (iv) integrated management of pastures, (v) afforestation and forestry, (vi) production of forest tree seeds, nursery techniques and nursery modernization, (vii) forest fire management, (viii) integrated pest management, (ix) combating desertification, (x) control of soil erosion, (xi) control of wind erosion, (xii) afforestation and rehabilitation of degraded ecosystems, (xiii) implementation and use of information systems including Geographical Information System and Remote Sensing in desertification monitoring, (xiv) integrated watershed management, (xv) conservation and improvement of soil, (xvi) production of forest seeds and saplings, (xvii) neutrality of land degradation, (xviii) sustainable management of pastoralism, (xix) sustainable management of wildlife, and (xx) transportation of wild animals. The Parties shall develop cooperation by exchange of scientific and technical documents and information, by exchange of experts, researchers and consultants, as well as by developing and implementing joint projects. The Parties may organize conferences, meetings, seminars and training programs. A Joint Committee shall be established by the Parties. This Agreement may be amended by mutual written consent. The dispute may be resolved through negotiation. This Agreement shall be valid for one year and is automatically renewable with termination rights requiring six months written notice.
