Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of the Niger in the field of water.

By the Decree No. 2017/10682 of the Council of Ministers of 3 July 2017, the Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of the Niger in the field of water has been approved. The Parties agree upon cooperation in the fields of (i) development and sustainable management of water resources, impacts of climate change on water resources, (ii) rational use of water, (iii) rehabilitation and modernization of irrigation systems, (iv) design and use of water and wastewater facilities, (v) water quality and quantity control, conservation and amelioration of water quality, (vi) river basin management plans, (vii) development of underground and surface water resources, (viii) analysis and research studies on several construction materials, (ix) experiments and research on soil mechanics and foundation engineering, (x) water and soil analysis for soil classification, land reclamation and drainage, (xi) quality assessment of underground and surface water resources due to chemicals and radioactivity, and (xii) hydraulic and hydrogeological experiments and research. The Parties shall develop cooperation by exchange of scientific and technical information and experience, as well as experts, consultants and personnel, by research in hydraulic engineering and by implementing joint projects. The Parties may organize meeting, seminars, study tours and joint workshops. This Agreement may be amended by mutual written consent. A Joint Committee shall be established. The dispute may be solved through negotiation. This Agreement valid for five years and may be extended for successive periods of five years with termination rights requiring six months written notice.
